Direct from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Janina has 13 years’ experience in the cultural heritage sector, supporting, developing, delivering and leading complex, multi-stakeholder and multi-discipline projects, Janina brings expertise in visioning, business planning and financial sustainability, audience development and organisational resilience.
Janina spent 10 years in all working at the National Lottery Heritage Fund (previously the Heritage Lottery Fund), in Grants and Senior Grants Officer positions in the London Team, supporting applicants from project conception to completion across the heritage sector. She has worked with a range of organisations including community groups, arts organisations, charities, trusts, local authorities, independent museums, and national institutions and has helped to ensure that inclusion is at the heart of the sustainable projects they deliver.
Her role included the assessment and monitoring of large (£2m – £15m+) funding applications in projects across the London region, including Kew Gardens, Temperate House; Courtauld Gallery; Southbank Centre; ArtUK; Abney Park; Old Royal Naval College; and Battersea Arts Centre. She has also worked directly with organisations to successfully secure funding through the Resilient Heritage programme addressing issues such as governance, Business Planning and Audience Development. She left NLHF following the launch of their new Strategic Framework, and so brings up to date knowledge of their strategic direction, processes and programmes.
During 3 years as a Consultant at Barker Langham, Janina led the planning and delivery across their UK portfolio specialising in project development and management, financial and business planning, feasibility studies and options appraisals, and audience development. Work produced included Business Plan for Headstone Manor Museum; visioning, options appraisal and Business Planning for the RAF Museum, Hendon; Income Generation Feasibility Studies for Epping Forest District Museum and Swindon Museum & Art Gallery.
Janina has also freelanced for the National Trust and volunteered at Burgh House and Hampstead Museum supporting the development and delivery of a temporary exhibition and education programme. A qualified Prince2 Practitioner, Janina has a BA in History from Kings College London and an MA in Heritage Management from the Ironbridge Institute, she also recently completed a Clore Leadership 2-week Short Course.
