Jane Beattie
Senior Project Manager
BA Hons, International Business, University of Plymouth/ University of North Carolina, Greensboro.
While being a relative newcomer to the heritage world, I have a versatile and varied skill set with a tenacious but very friendly and approachable attitude. I specialise in communications, with an ability to create mutually positive networks and connections. My background means that I am able to understand the different interests and needs of a variety of stakeholders, and develop mechanisms to communicate with them effectively and appropriately. I also have an understanding of the end-to-end processes involved in changing and evolving organisations and their culture, and recognise the importance of how crucial thorough and rigorous research is to periods of organisational growth and development.
Specialist Skills
- Research, consultation and analysis
- Stakeholder analysis
- Client relationship development
- Activities and engagement
- Targeted activity planning
- Marketing and design
- Media planning
- Digital communications
Some previous work I have been involved with:
Whilst I have a lifelong personal interest in heritage and culture (beginning with visiting pretty much every UK motte and bailey castle before the age of 6!) – my professional background is in Marketing and Communications, where I gained a wealth of experience in both the private and public sectors and of working as part of global PR agencies and being client side. I have knowledge of the healthcare sector as well as international consumer brands, working with and for multinational organisations including Diageo, BP and Ogilvy Public Relations. Working in Asia and throughout Europe to support Johnnie Walker’s and BAT’s Formula One sponsorship programmes of Team McLaren Mercedes and BAR Honda respectively, I devised and managed global media events as well as internal communications programs. I also worked as a Marketing Manager for a promotional vehicle hire company, during which time I updated my social media and digital marketing skills.
My role in projects:
The Hockey Museum Woking – consultation
The International Boatbuilding and Training College Portsmouth – research and consultation
Truro Cathedral – research and consultation
Sutton Borough Council’s London Borough of Culture 2023 Bid – research and consultation
The National Parks’ Our Common Cause project – communications planning
Salisbury Museum – background and demographic research.
