HLF Heritage Grant Round 2 Activity Plan
Kenley is the most complete surviving Battle of Britain fighter airfield. The remaining assets on the airfield: the rifle range, fighter blast pens, complete perimeter track and fuel dump together create a unique opportunity to engage people with a crucial moment in British history and a pivotal battle of the Second World War. The airfield is still being used for glider flying, providing a direct and tangible link to its WW2 fighter airfield history.
Tricolor supported Kenley Airfield Volunteers and the Corporation of London to develop an HLF Activity Plan that focused on conserving, promoting, understanding and enjoying as the UK’s most complete surviving Battle of Britain fighter airfield, a site of nature conservation and public open space. This application was successful, achieving £880,000 from HLF.
